The Old Barn Tells Our Story

Over two decades ago, an angel on earth told me that an old barn across the street would become a very special property. I just couldn’t see it then; but I knew that any words this recklessly kind woman spoke, had meaning. On November 19, 2013, Bob Emery, the Founder, and Board Chair, of WorkWright Vermont, received prophetic words, that WorkWright Vermont will do amazing things and transform lives. His and the Executive Director’s paths would cross in August 2018 and, on July 26, 2020, they agreed that the organization’s programs and services would most definitely work right for individuals and local communities.
”Coincidentally,” the old barn was selected as WorkWright Vermont’s first training site. It would appear, that recklessly kind woman knew of what she spoke. While the angel on earth fell victim to neglect, due to COVID-19, and has since departed, her legacy lives on. Doreen, affectionately known as DORA, passed May 5, 2020. Rest In Peace Mom!

- your tax-deductible donation will be an essential component of WorkWright Vermont’s trainees’ success stories. We thank you in anticipation for recognizing the need to meet the demand for skilled workers in the trade industry. COVID-19, among other things, has further created a need to reinvent how we interact in the workplace. There are opportunities to creatively reimagine workspaces for safer working environments. This may further fuel the demand for skilled trade workers.

We are focused on value-added work and will transition trainees from learning specific hands-on skills to applying them to address their and our state’s ongoing affordable housing challenges.

Not only will your giving open employment pathways for at-risk trainees, but it will also launch the building of Tiny Living Cottages aka TLCs. Well done - you’ve joined an incredible journey! #D.O.R.A.

Sincerely,

Marcelle Bunbury-Whitcomb., MA, M.Ed.
